Psychologists are different than medical doctors. We are not able to see someone for only 5-10 minutes, charge them several hundred dollars, and then write reports from that money. We have to see people for hours, then score the tests, then write the reports. We are able to bill insurance by the hour, but the client also needs to pay his/her portion of that bill (the copays).
Psychologists cannot be expected to spend 6 hours doing the testing, scoring, and report and then only bill for 2 office visits (which for some insurances would only be about $45 per visit)...Psychologists need to make a living for their families too.
So, remember that when you are doing a psychological evaluation that is paid for by insurance, you need to pay your part of the bill--the copays...
